Round 16 & 17 - Thruxton
With Thruxton being the most demanding circuit on the 2009 calendar, the mechanical components of the Trucks are stretched to their limits.
The drivers had to be completely focussed gaining times to maintain their championship positions. Several drivers managed to do this with Gavin Seager at the top of the list, credited with top three qualifying times in both sessions and two race wins.
Nic Grindrod's major engine problems at Donington did nothing to dampen the team's spirit bouncing back to score a fourth place in race one and podium finish in race two.
The Cartoon Network team of Steve Dance worked hard all weekend to find the balance in the Truck as the excessive success ballast they were carrying affected the handling and hurt the brakes. It all paid off with two second places.
Team 63 gained a drive through penalty affecting their serious championship holding which handed a slim lead to Pete Stevens with Phil white now needing to place some pressure on his team mate.
With the championship chase still on Michael Smith still holds third place with Steve Dance and Antony Hawkins moving up one position each. Dave Briggs unfortunately dropped two places after a spectacular ball of flames in race one.
RS Capp, sponsoring the event, unfortunately did not see their driver, John Mickel, take a podium position as two seperate gearbox incidents resulted in visits to the pit lane.
With the championship returning to Rockingham in September for the final time this year, the Rockingham title will be decided and the teams will be able to set out their strategy for the final two rounds of the whole championship firstly at Pembrey and then the season finale at Brands Hatch.
